Olympic Monowheel

Olympic Monowheel

While the bicycle reigns supreme in the realm of manually powered vehicles, there are plenty of cooler variations. There’s the tricycle, unicycle, and even a seven-person bicycle! But above them all, there is the Monowheel. Instead of pedalling on top of a solid hard-tail frame, the Monowheel sits users inside its wheel, where they can operate it in style. Monowheels first appeared in the 1800’s, but as you can tell, it never caught on with the public. This particular model will ensure that you arrive to any occasion with an air of mystery, and was the same cycle used in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Closing Ceremony! The wheel features built in LED’s that encircles its rider and is reinforced by a steel frame. (They make their appearance at 0:08 in the video below!)
